World's largest insect discovered in New Zealand

This is not good news for entomphobia sufferers. A former park ranger traveling in New Zealand has stumbled across the world's largest insect, a Weta Bug, with a wing span of seven inches and the weight of three mice.

"Three of us walked the trails of this small island for two nights scanning the vegetation for a giant weta," said Mark Moffett, 55. "We spent many hours with no luck finding any at all, before we saw her up in a tree. The giant Weta is the largest insect in the world, and this is the biggest one ever found."

'The Buzz' decides against airing Mo's official statement

ABS-CBN's "The Buzz" chose not to air an official statement from Mo Twister on the alleged leaked video of him confessing the supposed abortion of his ex-girlfriend Rhian Ramos, because of self-regulation.

"The Buzz" host Boy Abunda said Mo's official statement contained sensitive issues, which they decided not to air.

Mo Twister may soon be facing legal actions after his controversial video about ex-girlfriend Rhian Ramos allegedly leaked through Youtube.

A perfect Saturday night

It was a good night for football. There were some threatening rain clouds in the afternoon, but luckily, they did no harm. The air was cool and the atmosphere was electric. There were also legitimate concerns about a sparse crowd given the slow pace of ticket sales, but in the end it appeared Filipino fans couldn't resist watching a world-class team like the LA Galaxy, even with ticket prices at first-world rates. The last-minute 35% discount offered by the United Football League must have helped as well. Rizal Stadium was probably 90% full. It wasn't as raucous as the previous crowds that attended the WC Qualifiers against Sri Lanka and Kuwait, and there were noticeably more female fans this time around (gee, I wonder why), but overall it was good.

Taylor Swift Talks Next Album, Possibly For Late 2012

House pushes bill against cybercrimes

The House Committee on Appropriations has approved the budget provision of the consolidated bill that seeks to penalize cybercrimes, including hacking ang cybersex.

Headed by Cavite Rep. Joseph Emilio Abaya, the House panel nodded to the budgetary requirements of the substitute bill, which is a consolidation of nine measures.

"The Committee approved the appropriations provision of the substitute bill with amendments," according to the House panel report. However, the committee report did not divulge the amendments made by the Abaya panel.

"Gorgeous" Dinosaur Nest Found Full of Babies

A nest full of fossilized dinosaur bbies has been discovered in Mongolia, and the find has paleontologists reexamining styles of parental care among the ancient reptiles.

The approximately 75-million-year-old nest shows 15 juvenile members of Protoceratops andewsi--a realtive of Triceratops--entombed in ancient sand dune deposits. The nest was recently discovered by Mongolian paleontologist Pagmin Narmandakh in the region's Djadokhta formation.

Teens Who Watch TV with High Sexual Content More Likely to Get Pregnant

We know that TV and movies can help shape the way our kids view the world. According to Tim Winter, president of the Parents Television Council in the US, media has a very strong impact on today's kids, especially when it comes to how they view sex. "Research proves that television is a teen sexual superpeer that can, and likely will, influence a teen's decision to become sexually active."

Backing his statement up are studies done by Rebecca Collins, a senior behavioral scientist and research director of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention program at the RAND Corporation in Los Angeles. In one study, Collins discovered that teenagers who consumed the most TV shows with sexual material were twice as likely to get pregnant in a span of three years than whose who watched the least amount. In another study. she noted that teens who watch a lot of sexualized content are more likely to try having sex in the following year compared to teens who watch less.

The Grammys: Adele, Kanye West Lead Nominations

Adele and Bruno Mars are both rolling in major Grammy nominations, with each lined up to compete for album, record and song of the year at the Feb. 12 bash. Both crooners earned six nominations, which were announced Wednesday (Nov. 30) during a primetime concert special featuring a pair of performances by Lady Gaga.

Kanye West actually leads the pack with seven total nominations, namely for the song "All of the Lights," but his album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was omitted from best album contention and "Lights" was left off the coveted Record of the Year list.

Samsung's new chip has two of everything: Two 2Ghz cores, graphics

It looks as though the Nvidia Tegra 3 chil will be in for some stiff competitions as Samsung has just unveiled its own Exynos 5250 SoC (System on a Chip) that will offer vastly improved speed and performance over its predecessor for mobile devices. We don't know about you but this upcoming battle royale is making us all giddy and excited.

Made with Sammy's 32-nanometer process, the Exynos 5250 Soc will double the performance of the Cortex A0-based 1.5Ghz dual-core chips found in current devices like the Galaxy Note. And that's not all. The GPU found in the next-gen Soc will be able to churn out graphics of up tp 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) in resolution, support stereoscopic 3D and four times the graphics performance of the Cortex-A9 chips.

Galapagos sharks swim through silvers of light coming from research boat in a lagoon in the Mozambique Channel.

German and South African photographer Thomas Peter Peschak was part of the expedition to census the population of this vulnerable shark species.

"Not having to use underwater strobes or a flash meant it was possible to convey a sense of the nocturnal scene,"Peschak said in a statement.

This lagoon--The Galapagos shark's only known nursery--is one of the few places where the species is found beyond the Pacific.
